DAIN

Urban artist, DAIN's distinctive blend of urban grit and classic Hollywood glamour continues to captivate audiences worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary art scene.

DAIN, born in Brooklyn, NY, has become one of the most recognizable figures in urban art.

By ceating works that mix black and white photography with the vibrant colors of graffiti art, DAIN produces compelling paintings that pay homage to the classic Hollywood glamour of the 1940s and 1950s.

Perceiving his work as a dynamic confrontation between the assertive gestures of graffiti and the inherent femininity embodied by his Hollywood subjects, DAIN relies on a diverse range of techniques. Whether working on the streets or in his studio, these techniques include silkscreening, acrylic, collage, wheat-pasting, and spray paint.

Through his art, DAIN captures the essence of feminine mystique. Beginning with a classic black and white portrait, the artist intricately layers advertisements, logos, and additional images onto the canvas. Through a process involving acrylic and spray paint, the pieces evolve into collages of vibrant beauty. A characteristic element of DAIN's work is "the circle drip" around the eye, often in bright neon pink.

Internationally acclaimed, DAIN's artwork has earned a place in the Museum of Urban Contemporary Art in Berlin, Germany, making him the sole American artist featured in this limited collection. He has showcased his work in solo exhibitions and collectives in cities such as Paris, Berlin, New York City, and his hometown of Brooklyn. DAIN has also collaborated with renowned Canadian street artist Stikki Peaches. In 2018, the Coach fashion company enlisted Dain to create a large mural in New York City for a product campaign, a fitting collaboration for an artist whose images resonate with haute couture and have been embraced by fashion companies worldwide.
