John Westbay

"I just try to have fun with each piece and love hearing the different interpretations of them all. The creativity is in the mind of the viewer,” —John Westbay

Brooklyn-based artist, John Westbay, initially gained recognition as a street artist, when his distinctive LOVE logo was painted throughout the streets of New York City.

Born in 1990, Westbay's professional journey began in 2013 when he discovered his passion for creating street art. After receiving widespread recognition for his street art, he chose to dedicate himself full-time to perfecting his craft. The artist, living and working in New York City, creates art inspired by his colorful mind.

Enamored by the rich artistic history of the city, Westbay draws inspiration from iconic figures such as Keith Haring, Basquiat, Warhol, and Kenny Scharf. He sees these artists as pioneers who shaped NYC's vibrant art scene, and he aspires to continue their legacy by making his own characters synonymous with the city.

His youthful and humanist approach towards life is evident in his works, which aim to perpetuate positivity, inspiration, and love. A pioneer himself, Westbay creates expansive yet simple pieces that evoke feelings of love, blurring the lines between fine and commercial art. His work resonates with the essence of love, mirroring the styles of artists like Kaws, Ron English, and Shepard Fairey.

Through relentless dedication, Westbay's paintings have garnered recognition, being included in galleries and collections across the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. Beyond painting, Westbay has explored streetwear, releasing limited edition clothing that reflects his unique style and brand.

Through various mediums, Westbay's body of work conveys a consistent message: the pulse and soul that unite humanity through love. Each piece contributes to a larger narrative where love is the driving force, perpetuating a rhythm that never fades.
