Rock Therrien

Rock Therrien is an artist who draws artistic inspiration from various sources, including everyday life, music, and memories of his childhood, to create vibrant, colorful works with layers of collage and meaning.

Born in 1970 in Armagh, Quebec, Therrien is self-taught, with each work exhibiting the Canadian artist's raw talent.

Reminiscent of a pop and modern spirit, Therrien's art is characterized by an explosion of vibrant colors. Nonetheless, his employment of humor produces intentionally engaging works. In more recent collections, Therrien draws inspiration from the world of cartoons. These timeless characters can't help but resonate with people of all ages, evoking feelings of childhood carelessness and nostalgia.

Therrien's artistic technique involves a superposition of collages, repetitive patterns created with stencils, and various writings that adorn the background of his works. The result is a textured and depth-filled composition that fills the viewer with nostalgic humor.

Rock Therrien produces a collection of art where layers of symbols invite viewers to take a long glance and decode them. The artist often includes hints of the beginning stages of his compositions, incorporating sketches into his works and adding layers of meaning to the viewer's experience. Rock Therrien considers each of his paintings as carrying a story, an independent message.

Currently living and works in the Laurentians region, Therrien's artworks can be found in numerous private and public collections worldwide.
