Mario Henrique

Renowned for his prolific portraiture, painter Mario Henrique finds inspiration in the unpredictability of human behavior: the fleeting glances, the transient nature of facial expressions, and sudden movements.

Based in Cascais, Portugal, Henrique incorporates unconventional materials such as cardboards, reversed canvases, and hardware tools. Painting with spontaneity and vigor, his technique incorporates drippings, splashes, and paint throws, revealing the raw physicality of each piece.

Mario's artworks grace numerous private collections across Europe, America, and Asia. He has exhibited in galleries both locally and internationally, garnering acclaim for his distinctive style. The artist received an Honourable Mention for his participation in the Brasília Biennial of Contemporary Arts in 2016.

Henrique holds a degree in Design from Lisbon’s University of Fine Arts and once worked in online marketing. Working as a creative director, overseeing teams across Portugal, Spain, and Brazil, he subsequently redirected his focus to his passion of contemporary painting.
